How is a Windscreen Replaced?

A car's windscreen makes upto 30% of the entire structure of the vehicle. A windscreen acts as a cushion against the dirt, debris and wind. If not installed properly using the correct products then there's chance that the windscreen will come out of its base and cause untold injuries to the occupants. A good windscreen company will first ask you questions about the type of windscreen you have and then come out with the right replacement. The windscreen technician will check your car's screen if the replacement brought by them is exactly the same you have.

They will also check for the scratches and dents in your car and inform you. All other areas except the windscreen area will be masked up properly. Windscreen technicians adopt different windscreen removal methods-fast knife, cheese wire or a combination of both. An experienced technician will be able to carry out the windscreen replacement with minimal damage. The technician has to trim the polyurethane bonding which holds the windscreen in place. Any scratches caused during the windscreen replacement process are treated with a special primer. Once the new windscreen is replaced using the correct procedures and products, any trims clips and fittings can be refitted, and all masking can be taken off.

The new windscreen has now been fitted and the technician should check if the bonnet is closed correctly and that the windscreen wipers are set in the right place and that windscreen washers and rain sensor are working.
